Professional Football Player. For seven seasons (1972, 1974 to 1979), he played at the place-kicker position in the National Football League with the New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Colts and New York Jets. Born Anton Hansjog Linhart, he attended Modlina High School in Vienna, Austria and later Austria Tech School. Linhart was an all-around stellar athlete whom excelled in tennis and skiing, the latter, he was accomplished enough to try out for his native Olympic team. Additionally, he was an outstanding soccer player and went onto have a successful eleven-year career in the sport prior to signing to play American football with the Saints. During the course of his NFL career, he established himself as one of the top kickers as he led the league two consecutive seasons in extra points made (1975 with 51 and 1976 with 49). He was among the earliest of kickers to incorporate fitness as a method of staying in top shape throughout his career. He twice earned Pro-Bowl honors (1976 and 1977). In 82 regular season games, he totaled 425 career points. After retiring from football, he ran a distribution business in the Baltimore-are and was acting in charitable causes. He died after a battle with cancer.
