She was born as Jantje van Til in 1879 in the small village Houwerzijl, in the former (until 1990) municipality Ulrum, in the northwestern part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, the last of ten children of the 42 years aged driver (voerman) Rinke van Til [1834 Ulrum, NL - 1916 Michigan] and Eltje Straatman [1837 Leens, NL - 1899 Michigan].
Jantje VanTil (11 y) arrived on 21 August 1891 on the SS Obdam with her parents Ring (54 y) and Aaltje (52 y) VanTil and also her brothers Abel (17 y) and Peter (15 y) at the port of New York, Castle Garden.
In 1900 Jennie (22 y) lived with her father Rinke (64 y) and her stepmother Sjountze (57 y) Van Til in Grand Rapids city, Ward 11, Kent County, Michigan.
Jennie Van Till married on 10 September 1903 in her residence place Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan at the age of 24 years to the three years older and laborer Albert Medendorp, who was residing in Grand Rapids too.
Her husband Albert Medendorp died in 1950 in Highland, Lake County, in the utter northwestern part of Indiana, at the age of 74 years, Jennie died in 1953 at the same place and age.
