"The LaFayette Sun" - November 2, 1932:
(Marcoot) - The death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hamilton last Thursday night, October 27, and bore away the gentle spirit of Mrs. J. M. Davis to her heavenly home. She had been sick for some time, but didn't grumble or complain. Everyone loved her, for she had such a kind disposition, always wearing a smile. She was born October 5, 1848. She had lived her allotted time, being eighty-four, but "oh, it is hard to give her up". She leaves to mourn her going seven children, six daughters and one son, a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, one brother and a host of relatives and friends. Preceding her to the grave was her husband, one son and one daughter. She had lived a devout Christian life, which is a good example for all to follow. She was quietly laid to rest to await the resurrection on Friday in the cemetery at Macedonia beside her husband. Weep not, dear ones, for we know grandma is at rest.
