Floyd Raymond "Ray" Jacobsen, 79, of Davenport, died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be at 10:00AM Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 7:00 PM Monday, May 13, 2013 at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

"Ray" was born April 20, 1934 in Charleston, South Carolina, to career Naval Officer Rudolph and Eleanor (Beigler) Jacobsen. He graduated from Harrisburg, PA and then served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

He moved to the Quad Cities in 1956 and met and married Marilyn "Voigts" Huellett and had three children, Glenn, Brian and Russell while working at Farmall (International Harvester) as a machinist.

He found the new love of his life and soul mate, Patricia Adams, on February 14, 1975 and her daughters, Vicki, Lynda, Peggy and Nancy. Ray and Pat met dancing at Solo Steppers square dance club later dancing with the Do Si Do Club and attending state and national conventions making many lifetime friends and experiences. On July 12, 1975 they married and formed a family not considered the "Brady Bunch".

He retired from International Harvester/Navistar in 1994 after transferring to Springfield, OH in 1987 and moved back to the Quad Cities area to enjoy square dancing, camping and traveling with their motor home (Hawkeye Swinging Wheels), bowling with the Square Rollers Group and Dominos along with many breakfast, lunch and dinner outings with friends.

Ray is survived by his wife, Pat; sons, Glenn Jacobsen, Milan, IL and Brian (Polly) Jacobsen, Margate, FL; daughters, Vicki Randel, Davenport, Lynda (Bruce) Mink, Davenport, Peggy (Bob) Shaw, AZ, and Nancy Cato, Long Grove, IA; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Angie Randel, Chris Randel, Corey Spies, Jason Spies, Mitchell Mink, Kyle Shaw, Justin Cato, Nathan Cato, Chris Jacobsen and Corey Jacobsen.

He will be joining his son, Russell who passed away on March 29, 1984; his son-in-law, Randy Randel, on February 13, 2007 and his grandson, Kevin Shaw on May 9, 2012.
