Rev. Joseph L. "Buddy" Allen, 67 of the Hickox community, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the St. Vincent's Medical Center in Jacksonville.
Born in Folkston, GA on September 1, 1945, he had lived in Brantley County most of his life. Mr. Allen was a preacher who had pastored at Dixie Union Church of God, Westside Church of God and the Bachlott Church of God. He had also worked at NSB Kings Bay as a Security Boat Coxswain. He was a former president of the Tax Association, was a member of the Lions Club and the Brantley County Sheriff's Auxillary. His hobbies included fishing and training horses and his favorite pastime was spending time with his family.
Mr. Allen was the son of the late William Fleming & Mable Carter Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Manning Allen of Nahunta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tanya & Mike Nettles of Nahunta and Kim & Rev. Lamar Lee of Baxley; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe & Kay Allen of Nahunta; a sister, Betty Hickox of Nahunta; 9 grandchildren, Chase Nettles, Gage Nettles, Payton Nettles, Kaylee Hall, Landon Lee, Tyler Allen, Lacey Lee, Kaden Allen and Logan Lee and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.

Visitation for Rev. Allen will be held at the Bachlott Church of God from 6 until 8 pm Thursday evening.
Funeral services for Rev. Allen will be held Friday afternoon, May 10, 2013, at 4:00 o'clock from the Hickox Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be all ministers in attendance.
Interment will be in the Bachlott Cemetery.
