Don E. Barber, 56, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Don was born in Jonesboro on November 27, 1956, and was a graduate of Valley View High School. He joined the US Navy after high school, before later starting his own business in the Dallas, TX area known as Sand and Paper. He moved from Dallas back to Jonesboro two years ago to be near his family, and Don was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward Barber and an Emma Jean Francis Shopher.

He is survived by his wife, Maria I. Barber; four children, Marisa and Joseph Martinez and Don Jr. and Jared Barber all of the home; four brothers, Harry of Dover, TN, Ray of Memphis, Joe and JT Barber both of Jonesboro; three sisters, Connie Hembree of Mississippi, Susie Carter, Sharon Murray both of Jonesboro; and a step mother, Alice Barber of Jonesboro; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services will be Friday at 2:00pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Michael Meredith officiating. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
