CAMPTON - Edward S. "Eddie" Pattee, 86, of Blair Road, died suddenly Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at home.

Born Jan. 17, 1922, in Plymouth, he was the son of George and Lillian (Mitchell) Pattee.

He grew up in Campton and graduated from Plymouth High School. He was a lifelong resident of Campton.

In his early years, he worked several years for Norman Smith at his sawmill in Campton as an edger and for Milton Graton in the covered-bridge construction industry. He served the town of Campton as road agent for 38 years and retired in 1993. He continued to work for the town highway department part time until 2006.

He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, H. Myrle (Whitcher) Pattee, who died in September 1993.

Surviving family members include his son, Thomas Hartwell and fiancee, Arlene Wilson, of Wells, Maine; two daughters, Natalie Brannock and husband, Kenneth, of Concord and Priscilla Sawyer and husband, Gene, of Rochester; seven grandchildren, Mark Hartwell of West Newfield, Maine, Sandi Welton of Saco Maine, Alison Loudon of Southwick, Mass., Carrie Brannock of Concord, Chad Sawyer of Middletown, N.Y., Jeremy Sawyer of Kingston, N.Y., and Alan Hartwell of Sanford, Maine; three nephews; and a sister, Elizabeth Page and husband, Paul, of West Hartford, Conn.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. May 3 in the Campton Congregational Church. The Rev. Russell Petrie, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be held at the Blair Cemetery, Campton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Campton Fire Rescue, Campton 03223.

The Mayhew Funeral Home, in Plymouth and Meredith, is in charge of arrangements.
