John Leonard "Lee" Ticknor was born 20 February 1902 in what was then known as "Indian Territory" - an area next to what was known, at the time, as "Oklahoma Territory". The "Oklahoma Enabling Act" of 1906 specified that "Indian Territory" and "Oklahoma Territory" would be admitted to the Union as the state of Oklahoma in 1907 at which time "Indian Territory" ceased to exist.
