She was born in 1863 as Renskje Palsma in the country village De Wilp, municipality Marum, in the western part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, the first of five children of the 26 years aged skipper Roelf Palsma and Grietje Jager.
Renskje married on 28 July 1888 in Marum to the also 24 years aged laborer Ritske Tuinstra, born in the village Marum, seat of the municipality with the same name.
From mid 1890 until October 1900 they got in De Wilp the children Maaike (1890), Grietje (1892) [died in 1963 CA, USA], Pietje (1894), [Nellie, died in the USA], Roelf (1896-June 1900), Pieter (1898) [Peter, died in 1945 in Chicago] and Roelf (October 1900) [Ralph, died in 1985, Kalamazoo, MI, USA]. Ritske was in all those years a laborer.
Renske (46 y), her husband Ritske Tuenstra (46 y), their children Piety (15 y), Pieter (11 y) and Roelof (9 y) arrived on 27 April 1910 on the SS Rotterdam at the port of New York, Ellis Island.
On 31 August 1919 Renskje Tuinstra was intending to visit alone for some months Holland to see her aged mother Grietje Jager (who died in Marum on 12 September 1923 at the age of 81 years). For the application of a passport she declared then that she was born in Marum on or about 30 July (!) 1863 and that she is naturalized in Chicago on 12 June 1916.
Renska (56 y), her husband Richard Tuinstra (56 y), their children Peter (21 y), Ralph (19 y), Nellie [Pietje Tuinstra] Vierstra (25 y) and son-in-law Jacob Vierstra (38 y) resided in 1920 in the former Dutch truck gardeners' settlement Roseland, Pullman Street, in the southern part of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
Renska and Richard Tuinstra, both 66 years aged, resided in 1930 with their 31 years aged son Peter still in Chicago.
Renska died in 1935 in Chicago at the age of 71 years, her widower Richard Tuinstra died there in 1940 at the age of 77 years.
