He was born in 1898 as Pieter Tuinstra in the country village De Wilp, municipality Marum, in the western part of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, the fifth of six children of the 34 years aged laborer Ritske Tuinstra and the 33 years aged Renskje Palsma, named for his grandfather Pieter Tuinstra (1839 Friesland, NL - 1919 Chicago, USA).
Pieter (11 y), his father Ritske Tuenstra (46 y), his mother Renske (46 y), his siblings Piety (15 y) and Roelof (9 y) arrived on 27 April 1910 on the SS Rotterdam at the port of New York, Ellis Island.
Peter (21 y), his father Richard Tuinstra (56 y), his mother Renska (56 y), his siblings Ralph (19 y), Nellie [Pietje Tuinstra] Vierstra (25 y), his brother-in-law Jacob Vierstra (38 y) and wife (?!) Ella Sartori (30 y, born in Sweden) resided in 1920 in the former Dutch truck gardeners' settlement Roseland, in the southern part of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
The 31 years aged Peter resided in 1930 with his parents Richard and Renska Tuinstra, both 66 years aged, still in Chicago.
Peter died in 1945 in Chicago, Illinois at the age of 46 years, very probably unmarried.
