Obituary
Louise Pearl Fleming, daughter of Solomon J. and Sarah Wiltse Lighty, was born at Highmore, South Dakota, April 4, 1881. There she grew to womanhood, receiving her education and teaching for several years.
She was baptized in the Congregational Church in Highmore at the age of 11 years and joined with the Methodist Church at Wood Center, Iowa after her marriage.
On October 29, 1906 she was united in marriage to Perry Fleming of Edgewood. no children were born to this union but they loved children and fostered several and loved them as their own. Of these Harold Wilcox of Ann Arbor, Michigan has been a great comfort to her in her last years.
she and her husband were engaged in farming in Clayton and Fayette Counties until their retirement in 1942. She has since resided in Arlington where she has so generously given of her time and talents to her church and community. Active with a Sunday School class her entire life. She was dearly loved by young and old.
Last Friday she succumbed to a brain hemorrhage from which she never regained consciousness, and went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 5th at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein.
She leaves to mourn her passing, one brother Earl Lighty of Faulkton, S. Dakota, one cousin, Perry Lighty of Marion, Iowa one foster son Carl Wilcox and his children of Ann Arbor, Michigan; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Pall bearers were earnest Ackman, Roy Ward, Homer Chapman, Ed Retz and George Bassett. Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 8 at the Methodist Church in Arlington, with Rev. Calvin Curtis officiating. Interment was in Asbury cemetery northeast of Edgewood.
