Hiram a Woodard
Hiram A. Woodard, 77 of 739 Samantha Ave., Lansing, and formerly of Hillsdale, died April 2. He was employed by the Lansing Police Department for 34 years, retiring in 1961. Upon his retirement, he moved to Higgins Lake where he was a supervisor of Lyon Township, Roscommon County. He returned to Lansing three years ago and was a member of the Lansing Lodge, F.O.P. 341.
He was born March 8, 1905 in Hillsdale County, the son of Hiram P. and rose Bachtol Woodard. He married the former Fern wells on April 25, 1925. She survives as do four sons, ----; one sister, Anna Woodard of Hillsdale; three brothers, Rolland of Pensacola, Fla., Howard of Belen, N.M. and Roy of Jackson; 11 grand children and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was help April 5 at the Gorsine-Runciman Lansing Chapel. The Rev. Earl I. Van Sipe, chaplin of the Lansing Police Department, officiated and members of the department formed the honor guard and escort service.
