Westport Island, Maine----Marietta C.Appleton, 92, formerly of Beverly, Mass., died Saturday in a Bath nursing home, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Arthur B. Appleton who died in 1977.
Born in Beverly, Mass., daughter of Roland and Eva (Cressy) Woodbury. Attended Beverly schools and Wheelock College.
A kindergarten teacher for a few years in the Beverly area, until her marriage. Moved to Westport Island after the death of her husband.
She leaves a son, Woodbury Appleton of Westport Island; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Private memorial service.
