She was a native of Carrollton, KY. She graduated with an AB and MA from the University of Kentucky with post graduate studies at Exeter College and Oxford University. She was a retired teacher having taught at Shelbyville, Waggener and Ballard high schools and also at Bellarmine University. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Louisville.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, renowned sculptor, Barney Bright.
Survivors include children, Evelyn "Evy" Royce; son, Jack "Buddy" Royce (Elaine); stepchildren, Leslie, Becky, Jep and Michael Bright; brother, James T. Sandefur; sister, Lynn Shepherd (Jim); and grandchildren, Royce Jackson and Jackie, Travis and Kevin Royce. Mrs. Bright is also survived by many close and dear friends. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and after noon on Monday.
