Margaret M. Rogers, resident of McAlester, Oklahoma died April 19, 2013 at McAlester Nursing Center at the age of 88. She was born September 2, 1924 in Stuart, Oklahoma to William K. Shirley and Mary Ann (Foster) Shirley. Margaret married William Jesse Rogers in 1944. Margaret attended college at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She began her teaching career at the age of 18 in a little one room school in Pryor. She taught at Pittsburg High School for more than 15 years before retiring. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Stuart Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting and visiting her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her sons, Bill C. Rogers and family of Ronan, MT, Tom Rogers and family of Las Vegas, NV and Hugh Rogers of McAlester, OK; daughter, Shirley Ann Sumner and family of Midwest City, OK; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and 3 brothers. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Pryor Cemetery in Stuart, OK. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Services entrusted to Chaney Harkins Funeral Home.
