Obituary of Homer W. Peterson, transcribed from an undated clipping from an unknown newspaper.

"Homer W. Peterson, age 76 of Hutchinson, died on Monday, Oct. 26, 1992 near Ekalaka, Mont.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 30, 1992 at 11 A.m. from St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson with interment in the St. Anastasia Catholic Church Cemetery.
The clergy officiating were Fr. Richard Gross and Fr. Dennis Becker. The casket bearers were Dale Kenning, Dr. George Smith, Dave Hassinger, Norm Putney, Robert Powell and Alan Lundgren.
Peterson was born on April 11, 1916, near Osakis in Reynolds Township, Minn. He was the son of George and Gertrude (Shaw) Peterson.
"He graduated form high school in Osakis in 1943 and continued his education at North Dakota State. Peterson was employed at the post office in Osakis.
On Sept. 4, 1973, Peterson was married to Alice Rutton in Osakis. They had four children.
In 1942 Peterson purchased the Belle Plaine Silo co. and moved it to Chaska, Minn. He entered active military duty on June 22, 1945, and he was honorable [sic] discharged from the United States Arm on Nov. 11, 1945.
In 1952, Peterson moved to Hutchinson and purchased Rockite Silo, Inc. He also acquired Ready Mix plants and a gravel supply company before his retirement in 1978.
Peterson was extremely civic-minded and was involved in the following community organizations: American Legion, Chamber of Commerce, Hutchinson Community Development, Viking Council of boy Scouts, Kiwanis, Elks club, St. Anastasia's Church Building Committee, Burns Manor Foundation, Knights of Columbus, Gopher Campfire and various other civic and trade associations.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, boating, traveling in his motor home, and going to auctions. Peterson also loved spending time with his grandchildren, introducing them to the outdoors and outdoor activities. He had a great zest for life and loved spending time with people.
"He died while hunting in Montana with hisfriends. Peterson is survived by his wife, Alice; children and their spouses, ...; 12 grandchildren; brother Roy Peterson and wife Dorothy of Roswell, new Mexico; sisters, Norma Hintzen of Osakis, Thelma Omacht of Osakis, Mildred Hall of Phoenix, Arizona. Peterson was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Everett, Wendell, Dwight, and Lincoln Peterson."
