Hildon E. Ayers graduated from Jamestown High School in 1925 and attended Wabash College. In 1935, he started working at the Pittsboro branch, State Bank of Lizton and was associated with the bank until his death in 1973.

Hildon E. Ayers, manager of the Pittsboro Branch of the Lizton State Bank, died last Wednesday in Methodist Hospital of injuries suffered in a car wreck earlier that day on US 136. Mr. Ayers, 67 years old, lived at 314 E. Main Street in Pittsboro. He was a Vice President of the Bank, a leader in the Boy Scouts, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and the Pittsboro Christian Church. He was a former Middle Township Trustee.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene (Gene); three sons, John of State College, Pennsylvania, Peter of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Matthew of Pittsboro; two sisters, Josephine Huber, Pittsboro, and Naomi Jeffries, Delphi; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Pittsboro Christian Church. Burial followed in the New Ross Cemetery. Rev. William McGraw officiated.
