J. K. VANDERPOOL DEAD
James K. Vanderpool, son of Moses and Nancy Vanderpool, was born in Ray County, Missouri, May 31, 1847 and departed this life May 25, 1916, at 5:40 pm, being 68 years, 11 months and 25 days o1d. He was married to Sarah Jane McLaughlin on November 30, 1865. To this union ten children were born, all living except one, Melissa Pickett who preceded him on July 12, 1905. Those living are: Francis F. Yates, LaHarp, Kan.; John M. and Thomas Vanderpool, Hester Ann Yates, Rebecca Hunter and Edna Spickard of Mercer County Dona Pickett and Bertha Thomas, Chelan, Wash.; Poca Denslow, Isabella, Okla.

Those present at his death and burial- were John M., Thomas F. Vanderpool, Hester Ann Yates, Rebecca Hunter, Edna Spickard and Poca Denslow, sons and daughters of the deceased. Grandville Vanderpool, Mercer Co., Mo., B. P. of Harrison County, brothers of the dead man were also present. A. J. Vanderpool of Guthrie, Okla. was unable to be present.

He was a member of the Methodist church, having united in young manhood and always lived an honest and faithful life. Mr. Vanderpool served his country in the civil war as a member of Co. C. 35th MO. Infantry. He enlisted June 16, 1864 and served until the close of the war.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2:OO o'clock at his late residence by Rev. E. E. McKeithen of Spickard after which the body was tenderly laid to rest at the Groff cemetery.

Mr. Vanderpool has been a sufferer for a long time but bore his suffering with patience. He was a good neighbor, a peaceful and law-abiding citizen and has gone to his reward after a life of usefulness, mourned by a large circle of relatives and Friends.
