Marie Praytor Snyder was born on January 1, 1923 in Seymour to T. J. (Jeff) Praytor, Jr. and Mary (Lula) Dozier Praytor. She and Carl G. Snyder were married in Seymour on November 27, 1941. Carl and Marie were blessed with three daughters: Terry Jetter and husband Richard of Lubbock, Linda Powell and husband Tommy of Wellington, and Carol Baker and husband Charlie of Lorena. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren Johnny Taber, Bobby Taber, Lisa Powell Walker, Jeff Powell, Kristi Pearcy Buggy, Greg Baker, Matt Baker, and Kyle Baker. This group presented Marie with 16 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Marie lived most of her life in Seymour except for a few years during World War II, when Carl was working in defense plants and was in the US Army in California and Colorado. Carl and Marie owned and operated Carl Snyder Electric in Seymour for over forty years. They did some traveling before Carl lost his battle with cancer in July, 1987.

Marie enjoyed quilting and made about a hundred quilts and gave them to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with tour groups. In October of 2004, at the age of 81, Marie decided she should move to be near one of her daughters because of her health was failing. She chose to move to Parkview Manor in Wellington which was two blocks from her daughter Linda and Tommy Powell. She was very happy at her new home.

Marie was an active member of First Baptist Church in Seymour and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. After moving to Wellington she attended First Christian Church with Linda and Tommy as long as she was able.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Turner Praytor; 3 half brothers Roy Praytor, Bill Praytor, and E.L. Allison; and several nephews.

The family requests that memorials be made to Seymour Cemetery Association or to the charity of your choice.
