George Test Rothrock was the fifth of seven known children of Henry Rothrock (1813-1884) and Mary Young Rothrock (c1819-c1850), who married c1835 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Soon after marrying the parents moved to Ray County, Missouri where all their children were born. Family oral history has the family moving to California in c1849 (should be after 1850), but the mother Mary died on the way and the family returned to Missouri.
Henry remarried to the widow, Elizabeth (went by Betsey) Anne Riffe Gilley (1821-1907) on 04 Jul 1853 at Ray County, Missouri and they had an additional three children. It is not known where either of the two wives are buried.
George served during the Civil War with the 1st Missouri Calvary (Confederate), but the circumstances of his death are not known.
