The News-Herald. (Hillsboro, Highland Co., Ohio) 1886-1973, January 14, 1892, Image 4, Obituary.
Sarah Porter Conway was born May 13th, 1822, and died December 30th,1891, aged 69 years, 7 months and 17 days. She was united in marriage to Isaac N. Cox, May 4th, 1841, by whom she had eleven children, 7 daughters and 4 sons, nine of whom still survive. She was converted and united with the M. E Church in 1844. For thirty years she has been a constant sufferer, but she was never known to murmur. She bore her affliction patiently until the ruthless hand of death broke the seal, removing her to the land of rest, in full assurance of immortality and eternal life. Her happy spirit vacated its tenement of clay and, poised upon the wings of a cohort of angels, was wafted through the trackless expanse of ether into the paradise of God.
As a wife she was faithful and affectionate. As a mother she strove to bring; up her children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. As a professor of Christianity she was a living epistle, known and read of all men, and while earth is the poorer, heaven is the richer by the transportation of this priceless jewel. She leaves an aged husband and nine children to mourn her loss. Her funeral was conducted by the writer, after which her body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Samantha M. E. Church. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
