Funeral services for Clyde Marcus Modgling, a resident of Hondo, was held Friday, November 25 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Neil Kibbe officiating.
Mr. Modgling was born March 4, 1938 in Eden, Texas and passed away Tuesday, November 23,1983 in the Humana Hospital in San Antonio, at the age of 45 years.
Mr. Modgling worked as a maintenance supervisor for Medina Valley Veterinary Service in Castroville for five years. He had also owned a boat shop in Hondo. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Camp Fire Board and was Deacon of the First Baptist Church. His most fulfilling hobby was gospel singing at the First Baptist Church. He was always willing to give of his time to help people.
On Oct. 24 Dr. D.L. Chumbley and Doctors Bauer and Hoberman of San Antonio’s Humana Hospital received approval from the FDA to use the hospital’s new Yag Laser on Mr. Modgling who was in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. He was the first patient to be treated using the laser.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Carolyn Barber Modgling; son, Clint Modgling; daughters, Cara and Cindy Modgling, all of Hondo; mother, Mrs. Bertie Modgling of Kerrville; and brothers, Frank Modgling of La Pryor, James Modgling of Junction, Nahum and Arthur Modgling of Kerrville, Henry Modgling of Vanderpool, and Kenneth Modgling of Edna.
Mr. Modgling is preceded in death by his father, Henry Modgling and sister, Clara Modgling.
Interment was held in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hondo.
Active pallbearers for the service were Arthur Modgling, Jr., Wayne Modgling, Jimmy Modgling, Lee Wayne Modgling, Gary Modgling, and Ray Modgling.
