in a North Charleston hospital. Mr. Alexander was born October 9, 1930, in Berkeley County, a son of Isadora Burbage Alexander and the late William Nathan Alexander.
He was educated in Berkeley County schools and served in the Army. He was a retired truck driver with Central ABF Trucking Company and was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Surviving are his mother of Summerville; his
wife, Myra Haigler Alexander of Summerville; two sons, SFC James N. Alexander of Ft. Jackson, S.C. and Ralph M. Alexander, Jr. of Walterboro; four daughters, Betsy Varga, Margie Alexander, Beverly Stephens and Abbigail Austin, all of Summerville; two brothers, Hulbert W. Alexander of Summerville and Arthur L. Alexander of Las Vegas, Nev. five sisters, Annie J. Sifford, Fannie Mae Johnson, Doris L. Clark and Isadora D. Mizell, all of Summerville and Mildred Donovan of Waxhaw, N.C. and twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Salem Baptist Church of Summerville. Burial will be in Alexander Family Cemetery, directed by James A. Dyal Funeral Home of Summerville. Six months later he was moved Salem Baptist Church Cemetery
