Joan Parcell Ashton
1933 - 2013

On March 25, 2013, Joan Ashton passed peacefully to the place where her strong spirit once resided after a short struggle with cancer. Her strong will finally yielded to the beckoning of parents and other loved ones who eagerly awaited her arrival. Her earth life journey was full of exciting events and fond memories as we remember how important she was to all of us.

Joan was born November 16, 1933 in Provo, Utah to Lyman A. Parcell and Elaine Bird Parcell. She married Larry J. Ashton on the 7th of October 1966. Their marriage was later sealed for time and eternity in the Los Angeles LDS temple.

Prior to her marriage, Joan was a professional legal secretary with a wide range of experience including working in Washington DC for New Jersey Senator Case. For the past 48 years she has been an outstanding example of a mother, wife, sister and friend in her homes in Long Beach California, Mapleton, Utah and Springville, Utah. Her love for her three children and seven grandchildren will always be remembered and cherished. For the past 35 years Joan has been constant companion and care giver for her special needs son, Lindsay. Her dedication and love for Lindsay knew no bounds. Joan was also a loving influence to Larry's six children and numerous grandchildren. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked in Primary and Relief Society - both as a leader and teacher. Joan also worked as an aide in pre-school and special-needs capacities.

Special memories were made with Joanie in Newport Beach, California, Jackson Hole, Wyoming and the family cabin in Woodland, Utah.
