SHUFORD, Myrtle M. a long time Antelope Valley resident, went to her Heavenly Home, on April 3, 2005. Myrtle was a Missouri native born in Hammond, Mo., on July 20, 1911. She married Howard Shuford in Newcastle, Oklahoma in 1934. A few years later, the couple journeyed to the Antelope Valley for the first time in 1937. During World War II, the couple contributed to the war effort by working in the Kaiser shipyards in Richmond, Calif. After the war, the couple returned to the Antelope Valley to work and raise a family. Myrtle and her husband were long time members of First Baptist Church of Lancaster. Myrtle was a Sunday School teacher and involved in youth activities. At home, she raised 4 children and cared for many others. Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Howard, in 1975. She is survived by niece Geneva Stone of Lancaster, Don and Veta (Stone) Chapman of Littlerock, sons Kevin Chandler (Annette) and Chris Chandler (Suzie) and four granddaughters Kelsey, Kaylen, Jennifer and Kim. She also leaves a large church family at Grace Chapel Church of Lancaster. Viewing will be at 12 noon with Funeral services at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2005, both at Grace Chapel, 15th St. West in Lancaster. Interment will follow at Lancaster Cemetery East Lancaster Blvd. Arrangements entrusted to Halley-Olsen-Murphy Memorial Chapel, Lancaster.
