Mrs. Ava C. McDaniel, 79, 1806 E. Broadway, died Thursday in a local hospital following a short illness. Her service will be Saturday at 2 PM in the University Place Christian Church with the Rev. H, Hale Staley officiating. Burial will be in the Waukomis Cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
Mrs. McDaniel was born on a farm east of Enid, and moved to Enid with her parents where she attended schools and graduated from Enid High School. She attended Phillips University, later teaching school north of Enid and at Waukomis.
The former Ava C. Cameron, she married L. A. McDaniel in 1917 in Enid. They later farmed near Kiowa, Kansas, returning to the Enid area where they owned and operated a dairy east of Enid for 16 years. They then moved to a farm southwest of Garber where they lived until retiring in 1962 at which time they moved into Enid.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Paula M. Grape, Oklahoma City; two sons, Jack D., Ponca City, and L. C. (Bud), Enid; two sisters, Mrs. N. L. Swearingen, Independence, Missouri, and Mrs. Bob Garis, Enid; one brother, O. J. Cameron, Lively, Virginia; eight grandchildren; and two great – grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L. A., in 1964.
