Sammie Mitchell, 88, of Winona died Saturday, June 12, 1999 of heart failure at Tyler Holmes Hospital in Winona.
Mr. Mitchell was a retired farmer and mechanic. He was a member of Midway Methodist Church in Carroll County.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19 at Roberts & Sons Mortuary. Burial was in Midway Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by five sons, W.S. Mitchell of Montgomery, Texas, R.B. Mitchell of Little Rock, Ark., Harvey D. Mitchell of Silver Hill, Ala., Walter Mitchell of Bristol, Tenn., and Eddie O. Mitchell of Vicksburg; nine daughters, Bessie Fleming of Jasper, Ala., Margaret Coker and Addie Mitchell both of Vaiden, Lee Annie Cooper of Summerdale, Ala., Melverta Mitchell of New Haven, Conn., Betty White of Malden, Patricia Russell and Annie L. Lindsey, both of Jackson, and Shelia Brown of Detroit; one sister, Virgie Lee Cross of Chicago; 54 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Roberts & Sons Mortuary of Winona was in charge of arrangements.
