BEALS - Alvin Leon Beal Jr., 91, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at home. Alvin was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Jonesport, to Alvin and Nancy (Beal) Beal.
He served in World War II, Pacific Campaign, U.S. Coast Guard, seaman first class.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Olive Beal; daughter, Joanne Kelley and husband, Marvin; son, Arthur Merchant and wife, Wanda; grandchildren, Jay Kelley and wife, Vicki; Ian Alley and wife, Candy; Chasity Reynolds and husband, Wade; Timmy Alley and wife, Trudy; Darek Merchant and wife, Sabrina; Christopher Merchant, Sarah Merchant and fiancé, Kyle Chandler, and Patrick Merchant; and great-grandchildren, Joshua Kelley and Angel Cookson, Ethan Reynolds, Rylee Reynolds, Brooke Alley, Avery Alley, Mallory Alley, Owen Alley. In addition to his parents, Alvin was predeceased by his first wife, Christine Nason (Dobbins) Beal; stepfather, Malcolm Berry; and brother, Clarence Beal.
A viewing will be held, March 25, at Advent Christian Church, Beals, where funeral services will begin 1 p.m. with Pastor Josh Blackstone officiating. Arrangements by Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias.
