Donald Todd, age 72, of 816 ½ Story Street, died at his home.

His body has been cremated and graveside services will be held Friday, March 30, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Madrid. Military honors will be conducted by the Boone Veterans Council.

There is no visitation. A social gathering for family and friends will be Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at the V.F.W. at 815 Keeler Street in Boone.

Donald was born in Madrid, Iowa, on July 21, 1934, the son of Eugene and Alice (Webb) Todd. He attended Madrid Schools and then served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. On August 15, 1955, Donald married Mary Ann (McMahon) in Madrid. The couple later divorced. After working a short time at Firestone in Des Moines, he then was employed by Quinn Machinery in Boone as a machinist, retiring in 1983. Donald was a member of the V.F.W. Post #817. In earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing pool and cards, coin collecting, three-wheeling, archery, and playing slow pitch softball.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by three daughters, Cindi Peterson and husband Dave, Dawn Van Pelt and companion Leon Bradley, and Deb Shreve, all of Boone; a brother, Steven Todd of Adel; a sister, Audrey Gibbons and husband Bob of Madrid; and three granddaughters, Ashley Peterson of Ames, and Jenna and Kayla Van Pelt both of Boone.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family may be sent in care of the V.F.W., 815 Keeler Street in Boone.

Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall is in charge of the arrangements.
