Henry Franklin McNeill,

The third child and second son of John A. and Welthy Walker McNeill was born on the farm where his parents settled following their marriage east of Carterville, Williamson County, Illinois, Sept. 16, 1848 and died in Alhambra, California Jan 19, 1922 at the age of 73 yrs, 4 months and 3 days.

His Masonic Funeral was held at their residence in Alhambra and his remains were cremated and the ashes were shipped to Robert McNeill in Herrin, Illinois and at Henry's request they were buried in the grave of his grandmother, Hester Moore Walker, in the old part of Hurricane Cemetery near Carterville, Ill., a few miles from where he was born.

He was married October 20, 1875 to Emma Bell Blair. She was born Feb 8, 1859 and died in Alhambra, Calif., Feb. 10, 1930 and was buried in the San Gabriel Cemetery, San Gabriel, Calif.

Henry was the only on of the John A. McNeill family to leave the land of his birth. In 1900 he, with his wife and three young daughters, moved to Kirksville, Missouri, then in 1903 returned to Herrin, Ill. and lived in the residence at 701 S. 14th St. In 1908 they moved to Canyon, Texas and from there to Alhambra, California, in 1913. The other eight McNeill children chose to spend their entire life in Williamson County and all are buried within a few miles of their birthplace.
