Russ Mahalitc Rites Held Last Thursday
Many relatives and friends gathered for final rites for Russell James Mahalitc, 14, at 10 a.m., Thurs., Aug. 1st at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Russell was a victim of a truck and tractor accident shortly before noon Tues., July 30th.
The Rev. Father Edward Geiser, pastor of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and the Rev. Sylvester Fuchs of Bellville, officiated at the Requiem Mass which was sung by the Junior Choir at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. He was placed to final rest in the Lakeside Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Anthony and Al Mahalitc, Michael Brewer, Kurt Payne, Edward Sunderman and Terry Dostal.
Mill-Bauer funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The Rev. Father Geiser led in the recitation of the Rosary in the chapel of the funeral home Wednesday evening.
Russell James Mahalitc was born July 31, 1959 in Mariciabo, Venezuela. He would have been a member of the freshman class of Rice High School having completed work at Eagle Lake Middle School this past school year.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mahalitc, Jr. of this city; two brothers, Sp6 Ronald Dale Foster of Germany and Clayton Bradley Mahalitc of this city and a half-sister. Mrs. Del Mansker of Killeen. Also surviving are his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Barclay of Fredericksburg and Mr. and Mrs. John Mahalitc of Eagle Lake; and a number of other relatives and friends.
The tragic death of this youngster brought great sorrow to his relatives, classmates and friends. He shall be missed dearly by all who came to know him.
