He was born September 23, 1925 in Century, WV a son of the late Marvin and Bessie (Payne) Curkendall.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Tula (Karickhoff) Curkendall; one daughter, Linda Wagner and husband, Norman; two grandchildren, Cory “Ron” Wagner and Lydia Jones and husband, Grant; one sister, Joann Simons; four brothers, Deward Curkendall and wife, Rose, Blair Curkendall and wife, Jean, Gary Curkendall and wife, Judy and Max Curkendall and wife, Sharon and sister-in-law, Mary Curkendall.
Mr. Curkendall was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Smearman and Beryl Hall and three brothers, Wayne, Kenny, and John Curkendall.
Ron was a heavy equipment operator having last worked at King Knob Coal. Mr. Curkendall was an active member of the Queen’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Volga. Mr. Curkendall was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved feeding the birds, sitting in his front porch, maintaining his lawn, and delighted in seeing his grandchildren and their favorite dog Wesley. He will be truly missed by all.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday March 15, from 5-8 pm and on Saturday March 16, from 8 am -2 pm the services hour with Rev. Randy Simms officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Queens Chapel Church, or to Mountain Hospice 1600 Crim Ave. Belington, WV 26250.
