Evelyn S. Riegle, 101, of Kentland passed away May 7, 2013 at George Ade Memorial Health Care Center, Brook, In. She was born January 29, 1912 in Dunn, IN., Benton County to the late Edward and Nannie Graham Cripe.
Her marriage of 72 years was to Walter O. Riegle who passed away November 9, 2001.
Mrs. Riegle was a member of Pythian Sisters for over 50 years, a charter member of Grandmother's Club, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 23. She attended and was a member of the Covenant Federated Church in Kentland.
She spent much of her leisure time crocheting doilies and afghans as well as playing cards with her friends.
Surviving are three sons, Jerome E. Riegle (wife: Laverne) of Manteca, CA, William E. Riegle (wife: Joan) of Kentland, and James R. Riegle of Brook. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Marilyn Cripe of Fowler and a very dear cousin Ruby Winslow of Lebanon, IN. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Covenant Federated Church in Kentland, IN on June 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. (CDT). Following the service, family and friends may gather in the church dining hall for refreshments and share memories of Evelyn's life. Rev. Wayne Meyer and Rev. Bill K. Riegle of Big Rock, IL will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Kentland. Memorials may be given to the Food Pantry at the Covenant Federated Church or the George Ade Memorial Health Care Center Activities Department.
