Peggy Elizabeth Barbour of Staunton, Virginia, died Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville, Virginia.
Mrs. Barbour was born April 24, 1924, in Brownsburg, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Elizabeth Wall.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. "Bill" Barbour; and her beloved son, Kent.
Mrs. Barbour earned a BA degree from Mary Baldwin College. During World War II, she served as a medical secretary at Keesler Field near Biloxi, Mississippi, where her husband was stationed. She was the owner and interior decorator for Walls Colonial House in Staunton.
At one time Peggy and Bill taught dancing at the YMCA and loved rhythm almost as much as she favored her pet, Dusty. She enjoyed her friends at the Country Club of Staunton.
Mrs. Barbour was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Staunton, where she served as an elder and a Bible teacher of the night circle. She was an active member of the Covenant Fellowship Sunday school class.
She is survived by one aunt, Dorothy P. Woodrum; and cousins, Gayle Sundstrom, Bonnie Lessley, Polly Simmons and John Woodrum.
The Rev. Dr. Richard S. Dietrich will conduct the service at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 11, 2006, at the Henry Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
A private memorial will be held with the family at Augusta Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Fishersville.
In lieu of flowers, Peggy would appreciate donations be made to any charitable organization.
