I love this wonderful vivacious lady, my Aunt who was there for me more times than I can count. Many of those occasions were life-altering events. She always stood by her beliefs and me independent of anyone who would try to change them or her. She never judged the human condition. She loved New Zealand, dancing, her family, having a good time, and sweets. Teasing she was likely addicted to sugar. She had little patience for anyone using religion as an excuse to judge others.

Aunt Char was one of 7 children born in Oklahoma to Pauline Harris Gillespie and Archie Roy Gillespie. She was the oldest of 3 girls and 2nd of 7 children after her brother Leonard. During the dust bowl years and depression of the 1930s, the Gillespie family was forced to sell their dairy farm and moved to New Mexico. Four of her siblings (3 brothers and 1 sister) along with her husband, parents, 1 niece, and many many friends prepared to receive her on March 10, 2013.

Aunt Char was well-read on politics and current events. She was open-minded and embraced the diversity of mankind without judgment. Our wonder Char was a wonderful role model for women. Her beloved granddaughter was with her when she transitioned from this earth to another. Char is survived in California by one estranged child my cousin, 3 Granddaughters, 1 Great Granddaughter, and 2 nieces. She is survived by one sister and a nephew in Texas and 1 brother, 3 nieces in New Mexico, and 1 nephew in Arizona.

Charlotte Burk was cremated and her ashes were spread by family at Huntington Beach per her wishes.
