California City resident John W. Bryant passed onto the Lord on August 1, 1997 in Lancaster. John was born on October 22, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio to Jack and Goldie Bryant.
He attended schools in Columbus and joined the Army as a military police officer during World War JJ.
John's wife of 49 years, Helen, preceded him in death in 1992. He leaves behind his four children and their families, Johnny and Brenda Bryant of Rosamond, Bill and Janet Shew, Jeffrey and Teresa Bryant and James Bryant of California City, and his widow Rosita Victoria Bryant of California City. In addition John had eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. John has one sister living, Virginia Blair of Columbus, Ohio.
John was a retired aerospace engineer from Rockwell International. He enjoyed many hobbies, but primarily working in his wood shop. He was a member of the East Kern Historical Museum Society and was looking forward to helping reopen the museum.
Services were held on August 5, 1997 at the California City Community Church with Reverent Sparks officiating.
