Beverly Lorraine Humber Brookbush of Moscow, Idaho, died Saturday in Good Samaritan Village.
She was born in Victoria, British Columbia, on Aug. 26, 1915, to R.S. "Sid" and Josephine (Karlstad) Humber. In 1923, her family moved to Rocker, where she attended elementary school. She graduated from Butte High in 1933.
Beverly married John Brookbush in 1935. They spent their early married years in the farming community of Osgood, Idaho. The family returned to Montana in 1941 and lived in Anaconda for several years before settling in Rocker. Bev was employed at St. James Hospital, where she was in charge of the lunch fountain and gift shop. She spent much of her adult life caring for her parents, sister and husband when their health declined.
John and Bev moved to Moscow's Good Samaritan Village in 1988, where she lived until the time of her death. She was a real "people person" and was quick to initiate a conversation or share a laugh and a story. Her warm and witty nature fostered many treasured and long-lasting friendships. Babies and small children delighted her and she rarely passed one without stopping to talk and make the child smile. She enjoyed displaying her extensive collection of teddy bears.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, sister, Phyllis Keogh, son-in-law, Don Galpin, and nephew George Keogh.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marlene and Pat Moser, Pullman, Wash.; grandchildren, step-grandchildren and spouses, Lori and Aldo Melchiori, Amy and Scott Krauss, Marilyn and Jim Fullerton, Carol and Bruce Moehrle, Gail and Doug Boushey, Joan and Dean McSweeney, Dan and Nora Moser; 12 great-grandchildren; "daughter-friends," Melva De Nio and Arlene Koetting; and chosen sister, Frances Mattson.
Her family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home. Interment: Sunset Memorial Park.
Memorials: Our Lady of the Rockies or charity of the donor's choice.
