Death Takes Charles Ellson
Charles Ellson, 76, one of Muscotah's most prominent citizens and merchants, died this morning at 7:30 o'clock at the Horton hospital where he had been a patients since December 1 with the exception of 10 days when he was brought to his home to spend Christmas with his family. He had been in failing health since last June.
Born in Avon, Ohio, February 13, 1869. Mr. Ellson was the last surviving member of his immediate family. The death of his brother John Ellson occurred last June.
Fifty-four years ago, July 8, 1891, he married Miss Augusta Lyon of Muscotah, who with three children survive. They are Ralph E. Ellen, Albuquerque, N. M., Mrs Ella Allison, Monte Vista, Colorado., and Mrs. George Dittemore, Atchison, five grandchildren, Mr. Priscilla Hurt, Center, Colorado., Mrs. Virginia Walker, Pejepscot, Maine, Ralph Lassen of the home. Webb Allison, Center, Colorado., and Mrs. Barbara Schied, Muscotah, A grandson Sgt. Jack Jones, was killed in a plane crash in Iowa July 7, 1942, and two daughter, Mrs. Grace Lassen and Mrs. Pearl Stoddard, died in their youth.
Many Friends.
Familiary known to his friends as "Butch," Mr. Ellson had numerous friends in Muscotah where he has was in the grocery and meat business for over 60 years. He sold out last January to his son-in-law, Hans Lassen.
Funeral arrangements are pending word from a daughter, Mrs. Ella Allison, who is very ill at her home in Monte Vista. Burial will be in the Muscotah cemetery.
