After a week of saying her good-byes to friends and family; Eunice went on to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 25 from her daughter's home in California City. She was surrounded by her family and leaves the pain and agony of cancer on earth for her reward with Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A graveside service for Eunice LaVerne Lee Dyson was held Friday, March 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the California City Memorial Park and a memorial service was held at the Community Church Sunday, March 29, 1998, officiated by Reverend Kathryn J. Efford, her pastor and friend since 1992.
Eunice was born in Baltimore, Maryland to James H. and Nana B. Foulk Lee in 1934. Growing up with her sister Clarice, and brothers James Jr. and Nathan, she attended Baltimore Public Schools, graduating from Frederick Douglass Senior High School in 1952. She then attended Morgan State College.
Eunice was an accomplished tailor having apprenticed with Mr. Cuppee, a master tailor in Baltimore, Maryland. She held the position of Psychiatric Aide at the Spring Grove Hospital (State of Maryland) for nine years. She was a very successful Avon representative, becoming a District Sales Manager in 1972; a position she held for 13 years. She was active in her community, serving as PTA Chapter President and Cub Scouts Den Mother and altar servant in her church. Eunice moved to California in 1985 residing in the town of Boron, Fremont Valley and most recently California City.
Eunice is survived by siblings, Clarice Figueroa Foulk Lee of Baltimore and Nathan Lee of Philadelphia; children, Billie Leeper of Baltimore, Karen Avery of California City, Eric Dyson of San Diego, Patrice Dyson of Baltimore, Maria Dyson of California City; grandchildren, Jamaal, Eric Ahsan, Isaiah, Alicia and Brandon; cousins, Lionel Williams and Mary Trace; two sons-in-law; a daughter-in-law; four nieces; four nephews; five God-children; former daughter-in-law; and her best friend for more than forty years, Laura Brown of Baltimore..
The family has requested that no flowers be sent, but contributions be made to the Sun Alliance Hospice, 43770 15th Street West, Suite 180, Lancaster, CA 93534.
