Mother of
John William "Jackie" McFadyen
Margaret McFadyen Wood and
Janet McFadyen Smith
Alice and John arrived in the United States from England on the ship Homeric on May 8, 1924, with their 3 children. They left Southhampton, England on April 30, 1924 arriving in New York. They settled in Paterson, New Jersey.
Alice was my mom's mother-in-law for years. I remember so little about her, but my mom always remembered her fondly. The McFadyen family was a mixture of proper and relaxed. Alice and her daughter Peggy were tea totallers and very proper in their views and speech. Alice's husband, John and their daughter Janet were more relaxed and enjoyed sitting back with a beer or drink and just telling it like it is. Their son Jackie was middle of the road in the family. Not a big drinker, if at all, but could enjoy both sides of his family. I always marveled how different the sisters were and how each of them took after a different parent. I grew up missing Alice because my mom told me she was always good to me, she passed away when I was about 4 years old.

A very special "thank you" to Debbie for sponsoring Alice's memorial. You both have one thing in common. You are both two very sweet women. Alice would have been proud and Debbie you are so very dear. Thanks again.
