Judge Key was born September 26, 1817 in Georgia.
With his wife, Lelia, he came to Texas in 1854 and settled at Navarro Mills.
He resigned Nov. 26, 1873 but retained his job as Justice-of-the-Peace, Beat 5 but lost this in the December election (Corsicana Observer)
A daughter married E. O. Call, an outstanding lawyer who was instrumental in organizing the Texas Company.
Judge Key died March 13, 1910 and is buried in the Dresden Cemetery.
