G. K. Crittenden Dead

G. L. Crittenden died this morning at 7:30 o'clock at this home in the southeast part of the city. While Mr. Crittenden had been feeble for some time his condition did not become alarming until yesterday afternoon, when he went into a state of coma and so remained until he passed away at the above hour.

Mr. Crittenden passed his eightieth milestone last January, having been born in McMinn County Tenn., in 1844. He has been a member of the Missionary Baptist church since he was 16 years of age and lived a true and faithful life of service to his Master. He often talked of the hour of his deliverance from the trails and storms of this life and assured his loved ones and friends that all was well with him and he had no dread of the future.

Mr. Crittenden fought through the war of 1861-65 and ever held in his heart an undying love for the cause he fought for. He was a member of Company H. 16th Mo. Infantry under Capt. McGhee, Parson's Brigade.

The deceased was married to Miss Martha Price in 1878 who survives him. There are three daughters, Mrs. Chas. Stokes, Mrs. Jim Reese, and Mrs. Will Sasser of this city, and one son, G. W.
