Blattner, Barbara Jean (nee Freimuth); known as Jeanne to her family and "Babs" to her friends; born March 29, 1922; died Sunday, October 23, 2016.
Beloved wife of the late Robert Garnet "Buddy" Blattner; loving mother of Barbara (Charles) Young, Deborah (Gerald Belka) Knop, and Donna (Don) Whitcomb; dear grandmother of Brodie (Emily) Knop, Robert (Shelli) Thomson, Brom (Sara) Knop, Cameron Thomson, Tanner Tassey, Dylan (Janna) Whitcomb and Keaton Whitcomb; blessed great-grandmother of Greyson, Brexon, Jule, and Hart Knop, Olivia and Alex Thomson, Kaycee and Brooklyn Whitcomb; dear sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to many.
Babs met her husband, announcer Buddy Blattner in high school. Buddy's baseball career took them around the country. After WWII they returned to St. Louis. Their three daughters were born here and Buddy became the announcer for the St. Louis Hawks basketball team. Babs temporarily moved the family to Los Angeles as Buddy became the announcer for the California Angels. But the family's heart was in the Midwest and eventually, the Blattner's moved to Lake of the Ozarks where they became socially involved in the Lake community. They wintered in Ft. Myers, FL and the gregarious and friendly Babs made a whole new set of friends and acquaintances.
Babs was a proud and life long member of the 4-5-6 club, an offshoot of her husband's involvement with the 1-2-3 club, as well as the Hawkettes, wives of the St. Louis Hawks sports franchise.
Her winning smile, friendly ways and sharp sense of humor marked Babs' entire life.
