Gene Darrell 'Bud' Deckelman, 70, of Olive Branch, MS, formerly of Memphis, recording artist, died of cancer at his home Saturday, February 28. Burial in Forest Hill East Cemetery.

He was a recording artist in the early 1950s with a hit song, "Daydreamin" on the Meteor label. He also had 16 songs for MGM at Acuff & Rose in Nashville.

Mr. Deckelman, the husband of Betty Sue Johnson Deckelman, also leaves three daughters, Sharon Hines of Memphis and Peggy Akins and Kathy Pope Deckelman, both of Olive Branch; a son, Gene Darrell Deckelman of Olive Branch; his mother, Lillian Agnes Elzey Deckelman of Covington, TN; four sisters, Mary Thompson of Memphis, Lavern Rush of Collierville, Sylvia Dunkerson of Tennessee and Joy Webb of Covington; three brothers, Bob Deckelman of Collierville, Dood Deckelman of Covington and Donnie Deckelman of Jonesboro, AR and 10 grandchildren.
