Mae (Charlotte) Sullivan, 88, died at 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2002, at the Carbondale Nursing and Rehab Center in Carbondale.

She was born in Equality, Ohio County, Kentucky, on September 2, 1914, the daughter of John and Alice (Rowe) Buskill. Her family moved to West Frankfort in 1924. She married Noble Thomas Sullivan on July 16, 1941, in Jackson, Missouri. They resided in Carbondale the 61 years of their married life.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carbondale. She was a homemaker and worked in food service, working at the Bevis Cafeteria near the SIU campus. She was a Past Noble Grand of the Rebekahs in Carbondale.

She is survived by her husband, Noble of Carbondale; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karon Bauernfeind of Herrin and Ann and Bill Minckler of Makanda; four grandchildren, John Bauernfeind and Kim Bauernfeind of Herrin and Eric (Lisa) Minckler of San Angelo, Texas, Jim (Heather) Minckler of Makanda; three great grandchildren, Brendan and Britany Minckler of Texas and Parker Minckler of Makanda; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Edna Laswell; and two brothers, one in infancy and Richard Buskill.

Services for Mae (Charlotte) Sullivan will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 4, at Crain Funeral Home Pleasant Grove Chapel with Dr. Stephen Combs officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 4, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
