Inscription: Come Ye Blessed
Wife of J.B. Blanton.
From the April 10, 1901 issue of the LaFayette (Alabama) Sun newspaper:
In memory of Mrs. Blanton, wife of J. B. Blanton, was born February 7, 1855, in Chambers County, Alabama, and died February 26, 1901. Converted and joined the Missionary Baptist Church at County Line in early life, baptized by Rev. R. A. J. Cumbee. She was married to J. B. Blanton December 5, 1875, and to them were born 13 children, 12 living and one dead.
Sister Blanton was sick but a few days and her death was unexpected and a great shock to our entire community. On Sunday before she died on Tuesday, she called the family to the bedside and told each of them to live obediant faithful lives, attend Sunday school and meet her in heaven.
As wife and mother she was kind, faithful and true. She was the Queen of the home.
She saw a hand we could not see,
Which beckoned her away;
She heard a voice we could not hear,
Which would not let her stay.
