Arthur J Almeida, 75, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse, and a life resident of Lakeland. Arthur graduated from Solvay High School in 1956 and Syracuse University in 1977. He retired from General Electric after 37 years of service in 1993. After retirement, he worked for Sensis Corporation for 17 years and retired in 2010. Arthur was a hardworking, warm, generous and kind man who loved his wife, three children, three granddaughters and four granddogs. Arthur loved to spend his free time working on or cruising in his mustangs. he looked forward to his yearly vacations with his family. Arthur also loved sports and was a loyal Syracuse University sports fan. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Patricia Wiacek; son, Richard (Sharon) Almeida; daughters, Roxanne Almeida and Karen (Derek) Hmiel and three granddaughters, Tiffany, Brianna, and Alyssa Almeida and granddogs, Buca, Tekki, Gunner & Colby.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday 4 to 7 p.m., Hollis Funeral Home, 1105 W. Genesee St., Syracuse. Funeral Services: Wednesday, 9 a.m., Hollis Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Basilica. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lakeland. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to ARC of Onondaga.
