Marlene Carlson, 80, died in Scottsbluff, Feb. 16, 2013.Funeral services will be held Feb. 21, in Kimball. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery.Edna"Marlene"Carlson was born in Banner County, Nebraska on June 25, 1932, the daughter of John and Alice(Callaham)Snyder. She was raised and attended school in Banner County and graduated from the Banner County High School in 1950. Marlene was married to Carl Lee Carlson in Sterling, Colorado on September 1, 1953. They lived in Kimball and Marlene enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. After her family was raised she worked at the Coop Food Store and then the Kimball County Manor. They moved to Las Cruses, NM and ran a carpet cleaning business. They moved back to Kimball due to her husband's failing health. She then worked for GRI for over 15 years until her retirement. She was a very caring person and would always lend a helping hand when needed. She collected dolls and loved to listen to Polka music. Marlene was a fabulous cook. She also enjoyed gardening. She helped with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and was an avid Sunday school teacher. Her last days were made easier by the loving and caring staff at Emerald Court in Scottsbluff.
Survivors include her son Bryan Carlson of Las Cruses, NM; daughter Becky (Steve) Mannon of Kimball; brother JW (Janice) Snyder of Banner County; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Doug Carlson, sister Eloise Jackson and an infant sister and a great grandson Isaac Mannon.
