Thurman D. Van Winkle, 74, of Manchester, passed away Wednesday, April 4, at the Medical Center of Manchester. He was born March 7, 1933 in Van Buren County. He was the son of the late Brown Low and Rose Lee Burgess Van Winkle. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Bridgestone in La Vergne. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Rachel Ann Van Winkle and Vickie Markum; three brothers, Lonas Van Winkle, Calvin Van Winkle, and Earl Van Winkle. He is survived by his wife, Ella Madewell Van Winkle; two daughters, Sandra (Roy) Hinds, Donna Segato; four grandchildren, Amy Markum, Tommy Bain, Melinda Bauer, Mandy Rye; six great-grandchildren, Rachel Ann Markum, Katie Bauer, Dylan Bauer, Bella Bain, Brinli Bain, Vince Bauer; sister, Mamie (Glynn) Guy; three brothers, Floid (Carolyn) Van Winkle, Robert (Sharon) Van Winkle, Cecil (Bonnie) Van Winkle; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held Friday, April 6, from 3-9 p.m. at the Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at Coffee County Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Lonewood Cemetery in Spencer.
