Francis Xavier "Frank" Dziedziak
(July 8, 1935 - January 4, 2013)

Francis Xavier "Frank" Dziedziak was called on home to the Lord, to rest peacefully in eternity, on Friday, January 4, 2013. He was 77 years old.

Frank Dziedziak (pronounced "Jay-Jack") was born to John and Anna Dziedziak on July 8, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan. Although Frank was one of nine children, Frank was born into a devout Catholic family of Polish parents who instilled a profound work ethic into him, where they maintained a farm. Frank attended St. Hedwig High School, a Catholic high school, before entering into the Navy. Frank joined the United States Navy at the age of 19 as an aircraft engine mechanic and was stationed aboard the USS Ticonderoga, where he would tour places such as the Mediterranean Sea, Italy, and a majority of Europe.

On May 1, 1954, Frank married his neighborhood sweetheart, and love of his life, Lillian Joanne Macek. Together, Frank and Lillian had two children, Daniel and Lori. Frank was out at sea in the military when word was sent to him that he was the proud father of a healthy baby boy. Frank was stateside to see the birth of his second child, a bouncy baby girl. After being discharged from military service, Frank held several jobs.

In 1968, Frank and his family moved from Detroit to the Los Angeles area. While in Los Angeles, Frank worked for Recreation and Parks District maintaining parks, fields, and getting the opportunity to light off fireworks for the city every Fourth of July. In 1971, Frank finally settled into his calling, when he worked as an equipment operator for the County of Los Angeles' Department of Water and Power. Frank worked for the Department of Water and Power in Los Angeles County for 20 years and retired July 1, 1991.

Before retiring, Frank and his wife loved to travel. They would take several cruises along the western coast of the United States. They traveled to such places as Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas, Alaska, and Hawaii. After retirement, Frank had an enormous love for trains, building projects, and going to air shows. To say that he was an enthusiast of trains would be an understatement. Frank enjoyed taking his grandkids to Travel Town in Griffith Park, The Gene Autry Museum, Dodger games, or to Gorman to play in the snow. Frank still had an ambition for travel, as he would drive back to Michigan to see family periodically or travel to see his grandsons who were stationed in the military across the United States.

Although Frank's enormous smile, gentle nature, and loving heart will be greatly missed, he is now united with the love of his life, as he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian; brother, Walter; and sisters, Barbara and Susan. Frank is survived by brothers, John, Gregory, Mike, and Mark; and sister, Christine Stempien, all of Detroit, Michigan; son, Daniel and daughter-in-law Jan of Lake Odessa, Michigan; daughter, Lori Polman of Tehachapi; grandsons, Eddie Steele and Chad Steele of Tehachapi; granddaughter and husband, Julie and Ryan Lange of Mesa, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Steele, Jackson Lange, William Steele, Clayton Steele; and he will be remembered by countless other family members, friends, and colleagues from around the Tehachapi area.

There was a Rosary on Friday, January 11th, a memorial mass on Saturday, January 12th, which were both held at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Tehachapi. There was a graveside interment service held at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Lancaster following the services.

Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc. handled the transportation and all other arrangements.
